The Department of Molecular Genetics is looking for a highly motivated PhD student with a strong background in biomedical technology and microscopic in vivo imaging. The department studies the molecular mechanisms of multi-component biological pathways focused on understanding the molecular mechanisms and biological function of complex genetic interactions in cancer and aging. The project aims to develop a high throughput in vitro screening system for cardiac drugs.

The project will involve the development of organ-on-chip culture methods for human induced pluripotent stem cell (hiPSC) derived multi-cell 3D cultures, functional video microscopy analysis of cardiac cultures and disease modeling using hiPSC-derived cardiomyocytes with disease-specific mutations. Furthermore, we will develop quantitative imaging methodology and coding experience in at least one of the following languages: MatLab, Python, Java or C++ is preferred.
