Summary

Can you help us understand and improve the effectiveness of our delivery processes?

As a Project Controls Officer, you'll design and implement effective assurance checks across our Science and Technology (S&T) management processes to mitigate our business risks, ensure the effectiveness of internal controls and increase the probability of successful delivery of our work.

You'll provide second line assurance that we apply our process controls and they are effective in mitigating corporate and delivery risk. You will also coordinate the collation, interpretation and reporting of assurance information arising from first, third and fourth line assurance activity.

In order to maintain relevance and currency with our Project and Programme management community you'll also project manage our projects for 20% of your time.

Job description

In this role you will:

•You'll provide assurance to the Process Owner that our key processes are followed and are operating effectively; Some examples of these processes include Portfolio, Programme and Project processes, Trials Processes and Technical Assurance processes.

•You'll guide and support the Process Stewards in producing assurance plans and crafting reports for leaders in Dstl;

You'll undertake line two assurance activities prioritised by your view of the risk;

•You'll automate assurance activities wherever practical and efficient;

•You'll engage and communicate with staff to help them understand the reasons why the process controls are in place, important and ultimately drive better performance;

•You'll ensure that our assurance activities are conducted in accordance with Dstl’s Assurance Strategy and good practice;

•You'll work with other assurance staff to ensure that our assurance activity is aligned with other assurance plans;

•You'll support process and risk deep dives and continuous improvement.

•Has a real passion for ensuring our processes and policies, mitigate corporate risks and increase our successful delivery of high impact S&T;

•Has a strong desire to provide assured delivery of our projects and programmes;

•Has a deep understanding of business processes and good practice in assurance;

•Is curious, quick to understand a requirement and can provide support and mentoring to others.
