Are you looking to kick-start your career, and gain a BSc whilst undertaking on-the-job training and development, in the exciting growing area of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence?
This is an excellent Data Analyst apprenticeship opportunity in Dstl, a Ministry of Defence Agency, within the Defence and Security Analysis Division. This will provide future career prospects in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (AI), within the Defence Enterprise. This apprenticeship is underpinned with a BSc Digital Technology Solutions Professional Degree from Solent University.
The Novel Analytical Techniques group aims to use new numerical, programming, and visualisation techniques to gain and share key insights across the breadth of Defence; from Air, Land and Maritime environments; Modelling and Simulation, Wargaming, Policy analysis and support; and Human and Social Sciences.
We are able to consider start-dates in January 2020 or September 2020.
This is a development post and you will spend approximately one day a week on the off-site training scheme, provided by Solent University in Southampton.
Job description
In this role you will:
• Understand how and where relevant data can be collected and collated to enable meaningful analysis to be conducted with it.
• Use appropriate techniques to manipulate the data to enable easy interpretation and use by others.
• Be part of a growing capability of those able to use AI techniques for analysis.
• Develop the skills to be able to apply suitable visualisation tools and techniques for presentation to the customer in the most suitable format.
• Show, as an individual, you are developing and applying the skills being taught both within Dstl and during off site training throughout your apprenticeship.

• An interest in starting a career in Data Science and AI.

• An interest in using their skills for the benefit of UK Defence and Security.
Qualifications
Essential
• Minimum of 3 ‘A’ levels or equivalent with at least one in a STEM based field.
• 5 GCSEs including English and Mathematics.
Desirable
• A-Level Mathematics or Computer Science
