Jacobs Government Solutions offer a diverse range of services including mechanical and electrical building services, mechanical handling, civil and structural engineering, systems engineering, and project and programme management. Our core business is provision of design and management services supporting nuclear and defence clients. This includes supporting the UK submarine fleet, designing key facilities at, for example, Faslane and Barrow in Furness, and providing design services for the Atomic Weapons Establishment and at Sellafield. It also includes support to both existing and new build nuclear power stations.

We are looking to recruit Nuclear Safety Case Engineers to support our technical delivery capability to meet opportunities in the nuclear and defence industries.

Working in Government Solutions, you will be involved in planning, managing and delivering programmes of work to support nuclear safety critical infrastructure, in a multidiscipline environment. The team includes a wealth of experience and expertise in the design and substantiation of nuclear safety related structures and equipment. Sharing of knowledge and learning of new skills is actively encouraged.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • to take a lead role in the development of nuclear safety cases including periodic reviews of safety
  • technical quality and excellence of your work
  • communication with clients and other design team members and participation in Design Reviews, HAZOPs and stakeholder meetings
  • project planning, delivery and financial performance
  • contributing to the development of designs for complex nuclear facilities
  • adherence and contribution to business and quality management systems
  • operational and design safety, and de
  • veloping good safety culture

Qualifications

Essential:

  • experience and knowledge of safety case procedures and systems at UK nuclear licensed and or Authorised sites
  • understanding of the principles of nuclear safety as applied on both civilian and military applications
  • a working knowledge key legislation and regulatory requirements relating to nuclear licensed sites
  • proven track record in delivering safety case documentation, including PSR, PCSR and PCmSR
  • good verbal and written communication, and report writing skills
  • ability to produce safety case documentation
  • proven ability to work as part of a team, liaising directly with clients and other design team members
  • degree qualified
  • Chartered with a recognised UK Institution or be working towards chartered status

Desirable:

  • experience of working on a nuclear licensed site in some capacity and to be familiar with the safety and quality standards that are expected

Candidates shall be willing to travel and to perform short secondments to client sites.
