The NET-A-PORTER team are now seeking a talented Merchandiser to join the team based in our offices in Shepherds Bush, West London. Reporting into the Head of Luxury Merchandising you will be tasked with creating and managing the NET-A-PORTER product and brand strategy across non apparel to maximize opportunities and competitive advantage. This opportunity is available on a fixed term contract.
You Will:
Sales and Profit (30%)
- Drive and support Merchandising teams to achieve seasonal departmental budgets and forecasts
- Lead team to devise trading solutions using internal team structures, processes and techniques
- Top-line trade review and presentation to the wider business
- Present finance team with monthly reforecast to enable changes through reforecast model
- Top line Markdown management / sign off
- Ensure the function and the business maintains competitive advantage
Merchandise Management (30%)
- Create and deliver annual supply strategy
- OTB Management
- Target key brands with Buying Managers to improve partnerships – margins, flow, exclusives, sizing
- Develop business strategy with Head of Merchandising, Buying Director and Finance team with exec team buy-in
Relationship Management (15%)
- Represent Merchandising on strategic projects
- Establish and foster brand relationships to develop long term flow of goods and product opportunities
- Frequently work with internal teams to develop working processes in line with company objectives e.g.: MIS, Operations, Tech
Team Leadership (25%)
- Coach, train, support, challenge and lead Merchandising team to maintain high levels of performance and working practices
- Review personal, process and technical development needed to support advancement of function
- Understand and communicate company growth targets, future plans and ventures through team and business
- Recruit high calibre of individual to the team, suitable to business values with potential to be future leaders
- Create departmental team road map and steer the team to overachieve on business and personal set KPIs
- To monitor and review performance of direct reports, identify individuals who are ready for promotion or require performance improvement plans
- To take appropriate corrective action with team members who fall below standard (in consultation with HR department)
You Have:
- Proven experience of leading a large Merchandising team in a fast-paced luxury retail business, eCommerce experience is preferable but not essential
- Confident, assertive, persuasive team player – able to build and develop relationships with other internal teams for functional and personal development
- Innovative commercial thinker and developer – supporting departmental efficiency, improvements and growth needs
- Strong mature leader, setting benchmark for high performing individuals within the company
