Role overview

This is a fantastic opportunity to come on board one of Sopra Steria’s defence secure customer sites and develop and assist with maintaining availability of the cloud infrastructure through regular checks and responding to alerts using tools including vRealize Ops. Training will be given in using the VMware Cloud Suite, including vROPS and Log Insight, as well as IT Service Management software. This position provides great experience providing automated cloud services in a varied and technical environment and presents opportunities to progress to cloud engineering positions.

Key responsibilities

  • Maintaining availability of the cloud infrastructure through regular chacks and responding to alerts using tools including vRealize Ops.
  • 2nd line user support
  • Development of web-based user guides to reduce the volume of support calls, and internal documentation
  • Fulfilling service requests responsively for cloud users
  • Carrying out changes and maintenance following ITIL best practices
  • Reporting on performance and capacity

Essential skills

  • You must be able to demonstrate experience with the majority of:
  • IT Technical Support, working to SLAs
  • Virtualisation, including VMware vSphere/vCenter administration
  • Microsoft Windows administration
  • Linux administration
  • Editing web pages (html)
  • Basic data analysis, for example using excel
  • Knowledge of a programming or scripting language
  • Strong customer and communication skills
  • Ability to work with others within and across teams
  • Initiative to improve service
  • Motivation to improve and develop their skills

Desirable skills

  • Current Mod DV Clearance held
  • Valid UK Drivers’ licence

Security clearance

You must be eligible to obtain DV Clearance to work in this position
