The Public Finance Data Specialist role will be part of the Global Content Operations (GCO) organization, and will interface with teams across GCO, as well as other areas of Fitch Ratings and Fitch Solutions.

The Public Finance Data Specialist will be required to analyse and maintain financial information on a daily basis, for Public Finance entities. More specifically the candidate will be required to interpret data from financial statements (annual and other periodic reports) to ensure accuracy of the information produced by the data input teams, and provide feedback/ corrections when required.

This will be done in a variety of ways, such as reviewing financial statements (balance sheet, income statement, cash flow statement etc) in order to resolve accounting queries of the data input team and reviewing changes made by Analysts on captured financial data to calculate accuracy percentages, produce metrics and related reports and discuss results.

The role involves close collaboration with other Analysts and the Specialist’s for the purposes of quality assurance, policy adherence and policy development. The role reports in to the Global Content Manager.

Responsibilities:

  • Understand and define Public Finance credit analysis data requirements
  • Ensure highest levels of data quality for all Public Finance entities, checking data has been correctly processed by the outsource teams and providing feedback
  • Ensure timely delivery to stakeholders based on business needs
  • Manage the creation and updating of training and reference materials to ensure clarity of policy around the input of data
  • Identify training needs of data entry staff
  • Manage modifications to data entry templates needed to reflect evolving analytical or industry circumstances
  • Participate in regular meetings with Public Finance analysts to align goals and objectives for data representation
  • Initiate and oversee improvements to the Public Finance data capture processes and procedures
  • Provide domain expertise into the framework for Key Data Quality Indicators for Public Finance data and review data quality via the KDQI reports and other tools on an on-going basis
  • Provide consultancy, solutions and advice in the area of Public Finance financial data across the organization
  • Review analytical processes for bulk data capture
  • Prepare and provide regular reporting to peers, supervisors, and Public Finance analytical liaison

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Strong familiarity with accounting principles and practices (mainly US GAAP and IFRS)
  • A CIMA, ACCA, ACA qualified or part qualified candidate would definitely be preferred
  • Excellent administration and communication skills
  • Must have a highly organised and methodical approach to work
