NATS is embarking on a major multi-year programme of work to modernise its systems and services. To effectively manage the new Systems & Services they require an increased Service Operations Management (SOM) capability (people, process & tools) based on ITIL to minimise operational cost, predict and manage failures and improve overall quality of service delivered to its business and customers. SOM shall provide multiple capabilities including Services Desk, Configuration Management, Monitoring & Management, Automation, Security Information & Event Management, Knowledge & Analytics as part of its scope.

Roles & Responsibilities:

As the Design lead you will be responsible for the end to end design and engineering of the SOM Automation.

You will be responsible for a plan aligned to releases and ensure your team are working to meet milestones.

Ensure all requirements are aligned to capability build out and functional drops.

You will work with the assurance teams to gain assurance for your deliveries, so they can be approved for the operational environment.

The role involves working with other programmes (non SOM) to accommodate their requirements and configure the tool set accordingly working with an on-boarding team.

Included in the Automation Design Lead role are the following capabilities:

  • Automating Infrastructure Provisioning
  • Automating Application Provisioning
  • Automating SOM Tooling deployment & Integration
  • Automating Operational Tasks
  • Automating response to Incidents/Problems

Skills Required:

  • Experience in automation
  • Experience in Cloud Technologies
  • Experience in Development
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Working
  • Experience using automation tools Puppet, Jenkins & Ansible
  • Experience working within a development environment and using code and source control
  • Working knowledge of Linux and Windows operating systems
  • Recent hands on Design experience
  • Ability to learn new tools/techniques quickly and apply this to the SOM environment
  • Ability to decompose High Level requirements, Model them and document in sufficient detail for low level design
  • Experience leading small teams
  • Detailed knowledge of Event Management and automated responses
  • Detailed knowledge of Request and Fulfilment and how to automate fulfilment
  • Ability to work collaboratively across multiple teams
  • Able automate the workflow process (including approvals) and orchestrate the provision of complex catalogue items
  • Able to configure/code to industry API’s such as RestFUL/SOAP
  • Able to automate/configure RunBook automation to resolve standard issues (e.g. application out of disk, log files full)
