Role overview

Sopra Steria is working with Cleveland Police to build an Occupational Health Hub based in Saltburn which serves to support all wellbeing and health matters related to the Policing staff. A great deal of passion and funding has gone in to this project, resulting in an exciting opportunity for an OH Nurse to join the team and help drive the provision of this professional and proactive service forward.

You will support the implementation and delivery of the wellbeing strategy as set by the client, working as part of the HR and Wellbeing team, with a focus on intervention and prevention. Based in a stunning seaside location alongside a close-nit and dedicated Wellbeing team, this is a unique opportunity suited to someone with passion for the efficiency of such a service, who is able to work autonomously as well as proactively bring his or her own ideas and innovation to the role.

Key responsibilities

  • Manage and prioritise workload to required timescales and service levels, ensuring agreed processes, standards, and quality requirements and adhered to, including;
  • Client Policies and Procedures
  • Health and Safety regulations
  • Any relevant legislation
  • Provide effective sickness absence advice, support managers with attendance management issues, managing short and long term sickness issues and monitor the sickness management process in conjunction with wider Wellbeing and ER teams.
  • Be involved in the ongoing Psychological risk assessment program for the client as part of a regular screening programme, and undertake pre-employment screening and provide advice including pre-employment drug testing, audiometry and spirometry testing.
  • Update and maintain required data base/systems, maintaining records in accordance with the NMC guidelines for records and record keeping and compliance with the occupational health services medical confidentiality protocol.
  • To maintain client confidentiality in all aspects of this roles in line with all principles including GDPR/Data Protection/Health Records Acts etc. To respect client/patient confidentiality at all times and not divulge client/patient information unless sanctioned by the requirements of the role.

Essential skills

  • Level one Registered General Nurse with current NMC PIN Number
  • Experience in writing Occupational Health reports with recommendations – pre-employment and sickness management – with up to date knowledge in OH including previous and diverse clinical experience
  • Ability to communicate confidently, clearly, and concisely with all people at all levels both internally and externally. Both written and verbally.
  • Ability to innovate, respond to change, make effective and timely decisions, and work on own initiative to tight deadlines and KPIs
  • Valid current UK Drivers licence and able to travel to all sites across the county.

Desirable skills

  • Knowledge of the policing sector, and/or understanding of the processes, systems, and operations of such a department.
  • Competent computer information system skills
  • Recognised qualification in Occupational Health
  • Experience of Sopra Steria, or working in a HR environment
