Our Role

The main purpose of this role is to oversee the inspections of Overhead Line Equipment, covering all voltages associated with the Distribution Network. You’ll be expected to develop your knowledge of the risks associated with Overhead line equipment and escalate any urgent matters.

Whilst walking distances over a variety of ground conditions in all weathers, you’ll conduct inspections including, High Risk Site activities and Structural Integrity Reports. Recording all required information as per current processes, you’ll ensure compliance and all regulator and legislative standards are me.

As an ambassador for SSEN, you’ll be expected to maintain and improve exceptional customer relations with landowners and members of the public.

Your Skills and Experience

To be successful in this role, you’ll understand the price control challenges and targets within a regulated business environment and have knowledge of SSEN’s inspection methodology and licensing conditions.

Having operated within a customer driven environment previously, you’ll possess excellent customer service skills and a great working knowledge of ESQCR requirements. You’ll be Electrically Authorised as a Competent Person (Cat 1) and have the IT skills to enable recording and updating of all required data. Training will be provided to the successful applicant, including C1 authorisation if required.

With the ability to safely access remote equipment, you’ll have great technical knowledge and interpret levels of wood rough using the provided tools. You’ll have excellent planning and organisational skills with the ability to deliver within challenging timescales. Safety is our most important consideration and the successful candidate must be able to demonstrate a Safety driven attitude to every aspect of their work. A suitable vehicle will be provided for the role, along with approved tooling. Finally, whilst preferably based from Petersfield, the role will involve working throughout the South East region as required by our customer. This role will require the flexibility to work away from home and will vary year on year.

This is a lone working role so ability to work unsupervised for large parts of each day is a requirement.
