The Role

Our Corporate Finance Team is responsible for several different areas, including M&A activity, financial investment appraisals across all of SSE's unregulated business area, maintaining the SSE Group Corporate Model (including financial analysis of strategic decision making at group level) and managing SSE group’s credit rating. Due to an increase in workload we currently have a fantastic new opportunity for an experienced Corporate Financial Analyst to join our team working from our Reading or London offices.

As a Corporate Finance Analyst, you will play a pivotal role in the evaluation and support of investment and divestment opportunities of the SSE Enterprise business as it enters an exciting period of growth. You will work closely with all key SSE Enterprise businesses providing financial modelling support to assess the opportunities that are identified as well as assessing their impact on the Group’s long-term earnings forecasts and credit ratings. You will also be involved in preparing strategic, commercial, critical analysis (including business cases and board papers) for SSE's senior management and supporting the wider team on execution of any M&A activity.

What do I need?

We are looking for a qualified accountant who can demonstrate excellent financial modelling, project planning and execution skills. You must have the ability to work independently, deliver high quality, accurate work on a timely and consistent basis, displaying strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills. Furthermore, you’ll pride yourself on being an exceptional team player.

You must be highly skilled in the use of Microsoft Office applications, in particular Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint and be a confident and clear communicator with strong presentation skills. Prior experience in a corporate finance or transaction services environment would be beneficial but is not considered essential. Finally, we are also looking for you to have an interest in, and awareness of, current political, environmental and business issues.

At SSE, our job is to provide the energy people need in a reliable and sustainable way. We're involved in producing, distributing and supplying electricity and gas and we provide other energy-related services as well. SSE is the only company listed on the London Stock Exchange involved in such a wide range of energy businesses.
