Role Overview:

Panasonic have established themselves as the No. 1 Camcorder Brand consistently in the UK market by delivery of value-added products together with excellent channel marketing.

Reporting to the Head of Imaging Marketing, you will fulfil a major support function for the category management of Camcorder and DSC Accessories in the UK and Ireland.

Product management at Panasonic involves complete business management of the category within a culture of autonomous management. This is a key assistant role likely to develop into a full Product Manager role dependent on the skills and success of the successful candidate.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Understands end users’ needs and requirements by specifying the research needed to obtain market information.
  • Using market knowledge, recommends the improvement of current and future product portfolio by reviewing product specifications and requirements.
  • Monitoring and forecasting market trends in the Camcorder and wider imaging and CE segments with access to data from a variety of sources provided.
  • Creation of annual business plan for turnover, GP, Advertising and Promotion.
  • Define product marketing communication objectives.
  • Obtains category market share by working with sales teams to develop product sales strategies.
  • Provides information for management by preparing short-term and long-term product sales forecasts and special reports and analyses; answering questions and requests.
  • Constant review and tracking of actual sales performance against agreed forecasts. Competence to foresee forthcoming opportunities and take quick, decisive action early enough to maximise business impact.
  • Analysis of monthly P&L forecasts with constant review of pricing and promotion budgets to deliver operating profit plans.
  • Weekly analysis of retailer sell-out data to support the forecasting process.
  • Maintains limited professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications & establishing personal networks.
  • Presentation of product and marketing strategies to internal stakeholders, major retail customers, key opinion formers and industry contacts.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed such as attendance and involvement at major dealer launch and training events.
  • General administration including the management of sales samples, raising of required authorisations for pricing and promotion spends, sign off for promotional invoices etc.
  • Liaise with colleagues in Europe and Japan to maintain strong reporting of the UK market and feedback on all positive and negative topics.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

The ideal candidate for this role will have:

  • Some level of previous Product Management experience, with an understanding of the Customer, Product Development, Requirements Analysis, Pricing, Planning, Competitive Analysis, Sales Planning, Inventory Control, Financial Planning and Strategy.
  • Strong numerical & Analytical skills.
  • A full UK Driving Licence.
