WHO YOU'LL WORK WITH

You’ll work with our Energy Insights team in Amsterdam or Warsaw. Energy Insights is part of McKinsey’s Global Energy & Materials practice.

Energy Insights, a specialist analytics unit, provides analysis, insights and support to the wider energy industry. We offer services along the entire energy value chain, including E&P, refining, natural gas, and power & renewables. Energy Insights’ dedicated specialists apply proprietary tools and methodologies and a data-driven approach. Working hand-in-hand with our Global Energy & Materials consulting practice and with access to the expertise of the wider McKinsey network, our research and analysis yield knowledge available nowhere else.

Through divisions such as Energy Insights, McKinsey continues to foster innovation, driven by analytics, design thinking, and a customer centric focus to develop new products/services and integrating them into our client work. It is helping to shift our model toward asset-based consulting and is a foundation for – and expands our investment in – our entrepreneurial culture. Through innovative software-as-a-service solutions, strategic acquisitions and a vibrant ecosystem of alliances, we are redefining what it means to work with McKinsey.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

You will help shape McKinsey Energy Insights’ perspective on global energy demand through our proprietary energy demand projection model.

You will focus on one or more specific modules (e.g., buildings, transport, industry, power) and will work closely with experts from our Oil & Gas, Electric Power and Sustainability & Resource Productivity practices. This will involve coordinating macroeconomic, technological and policy trends with McKinsey’s insights on industry level- and overall energy system development.

Daily problem solving will be an important part of your job – you’ll do this in partnership with your manager, the leadership of Energy Insights, and a range of colleagues within the wider firm. Over time, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the strategic direction of your area and help develop new and more detailed projections. You will deepen your global energy markets expertise and based on your knowledge, you will increasingly become the person-to-go-to in your content area, available for questions from colleagues as well as clients. This can potentially also include longer-term staffing on client-serving projects.

As we work with colleagues on multiple locations, your role will involve travel on a regular (~monthly) basis, particularly to Amsterdam and London. Moreover, as the team works in a start-up environment and is growing rapidly, your role will involve contributions to the further development of our product and team. Examples include involvement in product development (e.g., the web application), recruitment activities, presentations at external events, and – over time – coaching of more junior team members and interns.

McKinsey is a global management consulting firm where you'll have unrivaled opportunities to work face-to-face with the leaders of the world’s most impressive organizations and to leave your mark.
We provide a broad range of opportunities for you to meet people, make friends, and build networks that can help you wherever your career takes you
