Who is Lightyear?

Lightyear is an innovative and progressive scale-up with one mission; offering clean mobility for everyone, everywhere! Lightyear originates from the multiple world champion of the Bridgestone World Solar Challenge® Cruiser Class, Solar Team Eindhoven. With Stella and Stella Lux this team developed a solar powered, 4 person, road legal car. Lightyear was officially established in 2016 aiming to make this groundbreaking technology accessible to everyone! In 2016 it started with 5 visionaries. At the beginning of 2018 Lightyear had grown to 40 enthusiasts highly motivated people. Today, Lightyear consists of nearly 150 employees and keeps on growing. Lightyear has its own production facility and a new office to be delivered in the summer of 2019. This growth will continue in the coming years. For that reason we are looking for talent and experience to strengthen the company and contribute in achieving our mission!

What will you do as Quality Inspector Incoming Goods?

As a member of the Lightyear Quality Department, you are responsible for performing the inspection of incoming production goods of our revolutionary Lightyear One. You will perform all required measurements and coordinate tests to determine if the products meet the requirements to be used in production. In case of defects, you will write the defect reports supported by data and information. Requesting Root Cause Analysis of defect products is an important aspect of the role. Good collaboration with Supplier Quality Engineering, Logistics and (Production) Engineering is key. But there is more; you also have the opportunity to set up the new metrology room where you can perform and coordinate 2D and 3D measurements. Furthermore your tasks will focus but will not be limited to:

  • Set up relevant processes to inspect incoming production goods
  • Co-approve first article inspection reports (PPAP approval)
  • Sufficient handling of rejected parts
  • Make recommendations to improve the quality of a product
  • Document inspection results by completing reports and logs; summarizing re-work and waste; inputting data into the quality database
  • Maintain a safe and healthy work environment

What do we expect from a Quality Inspector Incoming Goods at Lightyear?

To succeed in the dynamic world of Lightyear, pro-activity, professionalism, communication and adaptability are crucial. In addition, we are looking for someone with an ambitious attitude who learns from the past (tried and tested) but who is especially open to transforming new developments or ideas into the "tried and tested" of the future! You are a self starter with a "can-do" attitude. You are a good organizer, punctual, stress resilient and you can make substantiated choices and you know how to hold your ground. You have a high sense of responsibility and you can create and build from scratch. Furthermore you'll bring:

  • A Bachelor degree in a relevant technical direction. We are open to candidates with a proven track record and a Bachelor working and - thinking level
  • At least 3 years of full-time experience in a production and quality role within the automotive industry
  • Experience in performing incoming goods inspection based on quality related information (requirement), making use of required inspection tools (calipers, gauges, 2D/3D measurement arm/scanner)
  • Understanding of validating incoming goods inspection and approval reports
  • Wide experience in reading and understanding (complex) technical drawings/blueprints
  • Knowledge on manufacturing methods and procedures
  • Willingness to keep on evolving on the needed knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading technical publications etc
  • Ability to translate Quality Management System requirements into effective and efficient processes
  • Ability to structure and share information in a clear manner
  • Knowledge of 8D / Lean Six Sigma
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001
  • Knowledge of Excel/Sheets/Word/Docs and ERP experience (INFOR preferred)
  • Knowledge of the Dutch and English language (verbal and in writing) is mandatory
  • Availability for 40 hours per week
