The Corporate Centre Group provides corporate systems, services, solutions and facilities to enable HM Treasury Group to deliver effectively and efficiently. It consists of Human Resources, Finance, Finance & HR Operations, IT and Facilities, Management Information, Correspondence and Information Rights, Estates, Security, Information and records management. We provide a vast array of services and solutions that enable the Treasury Group and its partners to operate effectively.

About the Team

Thanks for your interest in working with us in Information & Workplace Solutions (IWS). We are a team of around 40, responsible for the Treasury’s information and communications technology, workplace, security and knowledge and information management services. Working in partnership with our stakeholders, IWS leads and manages technology-enabled change. The team takes forward a wide range of programmes and projects that improve services, enabling our customers to provide world class services to Government.

We’re looking for a highly competent data analyst who collaborates well in a team environment and can help us make a real improvement to the way the Treasury operates; working with data to deliver tangible insight and benefit to our users. You will be responsible for defining and initiating a programme of work that gets the most out of our data holdings and ensures that the data we hold is put to more effective use. This is an exciting and challenging opportunity to influence practical technology implementation at the heart of Government in a time of momentous change. Key accountabilities

1. Take forward a data landscaping exercise to identify and map our users’ data holdings. Agree the department’s data landscape with business users, delivering a mutually agreed data map.

2. Provide data analysis expertise to our users and team:

  • Identifying opportunities to improve business practices and solve business problems using data tools and analysis.
  • Delivering better insight from our data by optimising data collection, creating or improving data visualisations and reports, and creating narratives with data.
  • Using your business acumen and communication skills to collaborate and build relationships and successfully turns complex information into actionable insight.
  • Reviewing and discussing options, providing realistic delivery estimates. Challenge and refine requirements so that proposed solutions are fit-for-purpose, robust implementations.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to keep them informed of progress and potential issues as they arise.

3. Ensure a high-quality standard is maintained by following recognised industry best-practices.

4. Ensure that data products are appropriately documented and supportable, working with suppliers to ensure service excellence and continuous improvement.

5. Identify, implement, and maintain the tools required to effectively manage, analyse and interpret our customers’ data holdings.

6. Represent us as the subject matter expert for all things data. Ensure team mates who interact with the business understand the opportunities and constraints of our data analysis services so that they can provide accurate advice to our users.

A recognised certification in Statistics or Data Analysis would be advantageous but we will consider candidates who have the requisite training and are willing to work towards the necessary qualifications while in the role.

Together with our partners in industry and academia, in the UK and worldwide, we use science and technology to help solve defence and security issues. Around 60% of MOD’s science and technology programme (total funding: £410 million) is supplied by our external partners.

Through the Defence and Security Accelerator, we fund research into novel, high-risk, high-potential-benefit innovations. The Accelerator focuses on innovations which can provide advantage to defence and national security to protect the UK from its adversaries. It funds the development of suppliers’ innovative ideas and provides support through to potential application.
