Mission

As a Technical Solutions Engineer, you will own the technical support engineering relationship with a number of paying customers who have acquired technical support as part of their service level agreement with us. You will assist them in their journey with us as they build their application on top of Databricks products. They will look to you for answers from basic technical questions to complex architectural scenarios and expect us to be the gurus in the wide areas of Databricks products and Spark.

Outcomes

  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex customer issues related to Spark or the Databricks platform
  • Provide best practices guidance and support for custom-built solutions developed by Databricks customers
  • Deliver proactive suggestions for improving performance and efficiency in customer-specific environments
  • Deliver application level root-cause analysis, suggest code optimizations and assist with integrations
  • Coordinate with engineering and escalation teams to achieve timely resolution of customer issues and requests
  • Participate in the creation and maintenance of company documentation and knowledge articles
  • Be a true proponent of customer advocacy
  • Strengthen your Spark expertise through continuous learning and internal training programs
  • Be a team player and coach other team members as needed

Competencies

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience designing, building, testing, and maintaining software applications
  • A minimum of one year experience with Hadoop/Spark administration or development
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced startup environment
  • Proficiency with an object-oriented language like Scala, Python, or Java
  • Previous experience with SQL-based database is required
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills, particularly those that apply to a “Big Data” environment
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field
  • Strong Linux/Unix administration skills are strongly preferred
