Assortment performance for fashion retail
3-4 months, available from September 1st 2019 (flexible)
What is the impact of the assortment´s breadth on its performance? Fashion retailers have struggled with this problem for years. But with the increasing pressure from online merchandise, consolidated market power and decreasing store visits, its result is more visible in the form of pressured margins and business failures. This is one of the core challenges we try to solve as start-up. We believe that retailers already possess the answer to this question, only that it is hidden in their data.
The internship…
To help solve this complex puzzle we are looking for a research- or work-based intern. We have two different type of assignments available, both with a different angle. The assignments are based on your personal interest and the type of internship, but can be further discussed and aligned. The following assignments are available:
What is the effect between assortment breadth and performance? (e.g. sell-through, revenue or profitability). (Key activity: data analysis)What are the different roles and processes during the assortment selection? What business users can be identified and how is their journey? (Key activity: Business process modelling & user journey mapping)
The internship will last 3-4 months, adjustable to your education.
We…
Steeve is a data analytics start-up focussed on fashion retail. We started our business in September 2019 and we are funded since February 2019. At this moment we are building our Minimal Viable Product (MVP), which we expect to go-live in August 2019.
We dedicate ourselves to help fashion retail become data driven and helping them get more grip on their business. This also contributes to helping the industry generate less waste. Every year many products are discounted, send to outlets, discarded, or dumped; resulting in enormous amounts of waste.
We are participating in Holland Start-up’s venture building program that offers coaching, expertise, office space and funding. We are located in Utrecht’s city centre but will move to the Newtonlaan in August 1st.
You…
You want to experience what it is like to work in a start-up community (or already know how awesome it is and know what you would be missing out on). You can switch quickly, have a high sense or responsibility and are a passionate researcher/analyst. What do you bring?
You are interested in data analytics, retail, information management, process management and/or business administration/economics, and you study a relevant HBO or WO study (Don’t worry, you don’t need to overlap with every subject, though more is better as we don’t want you to fake it);You have an analytical mind and are able to quickly process new information; Have passion for data (again: no worries, you don’t need to be a data science hero; but we want someone who gets excited about data (lots and loads of it));You are precise and well organised (especially when it comes to data); You are entrepreneurial, solution oriented, and don’t hesitate to take initiative; You speak and read English (Dutch is convenient, but not necessary).
This is what we offer you…
The chance to learn more about data analytics, process management, and fashion retail; The opportunity to analyse a unique data set (truly, the potential of insights we can discover together is amazing); The ability to have a major impact on the final product, which we are working on relentlessly; An awesome working space in a bustling start-up community; An informal working environment with a weekly vrimibo;Potentially, a internship compensation based on knowledge, experience, but mostly on performance.
Is this your new challenge? Make it yours.
Are you enthusiastic? We love to hear from you. You can apply by sending your c.v., an application letter (read introduction letter that explains what you want to learn), and your grade list to Kea (k.weinhardt@hollandstartup.com) and in c.c. Jaap (Jaap@steeve.ai). For questions about the internship or a simple cup of coffee you can send an e-mail to Jaap (Jaap@steeve.ai), don’t forget to leave your phone number so we can call you.
