Produce & manage the technical offerings for the Industrial Segment. Provide direct customer facing technical support during the bid process through to negotiation and order close out.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Interpret the customer requirements with accuracy, quality and timeliness to meet customer needs & business goalsWork with engineering to help secure best ‘Technical Design’ and ‘Technical Sign-off’
- Complete TSO, TCP and Project schedules as required
- Create internal/external supplier specificationsAssist with cost out exercises to help secure competitive pricing
- Provide technical support through all stages of the ‘bid’ & ‘Risk’ process
- Produce technical design specifications to go into our offering from system design and electrical design diagrams to cable schedules and test instructions
- Support the sales managers in their customer meetings & negotiations
- Participate in the ITO_OTR handover process providing technical support to the order booking process as required
- Value propositions In conjunction with the sales leader and account sales manager understand the account strategy and our competitive situation
- Work with creativity in our technical proposals, providing best solution/best value offerings which demonstrate our value proposition to the customer
- Consider the full Industrial offering, incorporating service scope and the after sales offering where appropriate
- Creating and presenting power-points to best describe the value of our offering – presenting both internally & externallyNegotiation & order closure
- In conjunction with the sales account manager, commercial, legal and senior leadership help to develop our negotiation positionMarkets & Geography
- Cover a variety of solution and market areas but specifically power quality, control, drives and excitation systems for the Energy & General Industry markets
- Provide support for solutions and services delivered out of the UK and primarily booked under the UK P&LActivity will primarily be in the UK, Ireland, APAC, SSA, NAM and the Nordics, with the opportunity for some overseas travel
Other key tasks:
- Help to ‘sell to win’ business in accordance with the unit financial kpi’s (orders, cash, margin, convertibility)
- May at times provide assistance to the project management team wrt claims and project variations
- Ability to work on multiple bids for multiple customers at any one time
- On some occasions provide direct sales activity
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Degree level in engineering or appropriate apprentice background or equivalent knowledge or experience
- Industrial/Power Conversion background
- PC literate and familiar with Microsoft tools
- Experience in capturing and interpreting customer requirements
- Flexible, adaptable and enthusiastic approach; good team player and effective communicator
- Thorough proactive approach to work, with a ‘sense of urgency’ to deliver quality ‘on-time’
- There is an expectation that domestic and overseas travel will form part of the job
