AkzoNobel ‘super band’ helps raise thousands for local charity! Employees in Felling have raised over £2,000 in aid of a local charity, the Nicole Rich Foundation, after putting on a special gig to raise money. Fundraising started after the group heard about a colleague at the nearby Ashington site whose two young daughters have been affected by an extremely rare neuro degenerative condition called Batten Disease. You can follow the inspirational story of Nicole and Jessica Rich at Nicole's Batten Journey. To find out more about the Nicole Rich Foundation visit nicolerichfoundation.org.uk

Today Team AkzoNobel announced its star-studded international crew for the Volvo Ocean Race 2017-18. We think we've got a great bunch of sailers on board but we're especially delighted that we have a UK team member; 48-year-old Jules Salter. Jules, born in Newport on the Isle of Wight but now living in Cowes, is internationally lauded as a top-flight racing navigator and this will be his third time competing in the race. Jules previously was part of the victorious 2008-09 Ericsson Racing crew. Welcome to team AkzoNobel Jules; we're all behind you to lead our boat to glory!

All aboard to brush up on reading skills! Sunderland AFC players Jack Rodwell and Lyndon Gooch came and officially opened Westoe Crown Primary School's refurbished library bus last week. The bus was made possible by funding from AkzoNobel and support from our employees. A big well done to all of the team especially project lead Jody Graham, AkzoNobel employee and Mum of Max, 4, who attends the school.
