How about actually seeing your work in action? As a Backend Developer at Rentman, chances are that the next big festival or event that you are attending, is planned efficiently because of your work.

In the job of Backend Developer at Rentman, you will be working in a fast paced environment within a start-up company. Here you will find no 9 to 5 working ethos, but you do find a lot of young and eager colleagues that are willing to go that extra mile. It is a challenging job, which includes PHP and MySQL, but is by no means anything like simple WordPress website building. We have “brewed” our own software in-house, which you will need to explore and develop even further. You will be the one of the people that enables our clients to efficiently plan the biggest events and festivals in Europe.

What you will be doing

  • Work on a big and extensive product and carve it out even further
  • Develop new ways to efficiently process and scale large quantities of data
  • Work with Scrum and realize your own projects
  • Be part of a young and dynamic team

Our technology

  • We work with a separated Front- and Backend
  • An in-house developed PHP-Backend which is capable handling a million requests per minute
  • Highly scalable infrastructure based on Amazon’s cloud software
  • HA design without single point of failure
  • We work with “continuous integration” and our systems are enabled to separately release new parts of our product

The team

You are going to be a part of a young, interdisciplinary team of 6 people (both junior and senior developers). In total, the office counts 12 people, working right in the centre of Utrecht. It is a bustling office and it is not unusual to find us having a fierce game of Ping-Pong or some nice drinks after work.

What we are looking for

  • A university background in computer sciences (Dutch: HBO/WO)
  • PHP and MySQL do not hold any secrets to you
  • NO WordPress website building admirations
  • Knowledge of current web technologies and concepts
  • Young and open-minded way of problem-solving
  • A team player willing to share his knowledge

We offer

  • A fulltime function (Part time with reservation)
  • A challenging job in a start-up environment
  • Room for personal development within a fast growing company
  • Be part of young and ambitious team
  • Superb office in the centre of Utrecht
  • Ping-Pong and Wii included
