Junior / Medior Credit Analyst within Risk Management Region NL & Africa, Structured & Corporate Credit Analysis for sector team B of LPG NL

Utrecht, 36/40 hours

The position

As credit analyst within Structured & Corporate Credit Analysis in Utrecht you are expected to - from an autonomous position in a deal team with the LPG NL front office - be actively involved and give an independent opinion/advice on credit/structure risks in complex transactions. Your focus in the deal team is to identify the key risks factors in a transaction, manage the credit risk approval process, test transactions against the risk appetite of the bank and act as a sparring partner for front office and client, in order to find a balanced financing proposal to serve the customer in an optimal way.

Your main tasks and responsibilities are:

  • Development of an independent, objective, and balanced risk assessment of proposed (debt) structures and advise on finance proposals;
  • Preparation of high quality English credit reports (e.g. applications, reviews). When writing the credit report (the basis for a credit decision) you are primarily responsible for market analysis, financial analysis, structural analysis and determining the credit risk rating, economic capital and RAROC;
  • Proactive monitoring and reporting on the clients in your own portfolio. In both cases it is important to understand the drivers and the main risks of the company, and succinctly write this down in the credit report;
  • Sharing knowledge, including (together with your colleagues) acting as a centre of competence for credit risk tools and models to a wider audience within the bank;
  • Participating in (risk related) working groups/projects.

You will become part of the Structured & Corporate Credit Analysis team working for LPG NL sector team B. Your portfolio mainly consist of clients in the Logistics, Energy and Retail sector. Team B however also serves clients in the TMT, Utility and Automotive sectors. Given this wide sector presence, team B is growing and deal flow is high which provides excellent opportunities to learn and grow. In your role as Credit Analyst, you are in constant contact with the commercial team of LPG NL, clients, Risk Management, Group Risk Management, Approvals Department, other Credit Analysis teams and internal product & research departments.

Our department

The Structured & Corporate Credit Analysis teams (around 45 FTE) within the Region Netherlands & Africa Department is based in Utrecht and is responsible for the wholesale credit analysis- and risk management activities within this region. The department consists of 7 teams organized around Acquisition Finance/Client Solutions/Asset Based Financing (AF/CS/ABF), Trade & Commodity Finance (TCF), Project/Export Finance (PEF) and four sector teams within Loan Products Group NL (LPG NL). The teams closely works together with the commercial teams based in the Netherlands. The teams work together, share knowledge and resources between them and aims to act as a centre of competence for credit analysis within the wider Rabobank Group.

Loan Product Group NL (LPG NL) focuses on the largest corporate clients in the Dutch Wholesale market (with turnover in excess of EUR 250mln), and operates in a dynamic and demanding environment in which flexibility is required. LPG NL closely works together with other departments such as SRB, Financial Logistics, CRTM, DCM and Loan Syndications. As from 2017 LPG NL manages around 380 client relationships.

The four Credit Analysis teams working for LPG NL consist of approximately 23 Credit Analysts. The department has a pleasant working atmosphere, ambitious colleagues, extensive training and offers excellent development opportunities and career prospects. LPG NL front officers and Credit Analysts work as integrated (deal) teams, respect each other’s independent roles and operate on the same floor.

Your profile

  • You have a Master degree with thorough knowledge of (i) analyzing business risks, financial data and assessing credit risks; (ii) accounting standards; and (iii) banking products;
  • You have (some) experience with (external) customer contact and liaising with other financiers (debt / equity) and are familiar with legal aspects and loan documentation;
  • You are a team-player with strong analytical skills;
  • You have an hands-on mentality and like to work in a demanding and dynamic environment
  • Your communication and language skills (verbally and in writing) are excellent in English and Dutch;
  • You have a desire to further develop personal skills, as well as (all-round) credit analysis skills;
  • (Some) experience in corporate credit analysis or risk management is preferred.
