We are looking for you to support the development and continuous improvement of world-class processes and systems that will enable the Philips Avent Glemsford Manufacturing team to meet its customer commitments and achieve targets in the area of Safety, Quality, Cost, Cash, Delivery and People.

Your responsibilities

  • Provide support to the production teams as required to achieve targets in the area of Safety, Quality, Cost, Cash, Delivery and People.
  • Identify and suggest improvements to processes within the factory value stream that include equipment, people, material flow, ergonomics & quality.
  • Identify root cause of production opportunities by utilizing formal problem solving techniques and implement action plans to correct.
  • Co-lead cross-functional teams to drive the process improvements.
  • Perform process trails / characterizations where required.
  • Liaise with potential suppliers of equipment and materials.
  • Provide training and technical support as required to enhance the skills of operators.
  • Create and maintain process documentation.

Your team

Philips AVENT (Part of the HealthTech division of Philips Electronics) manufactures baby feeding bottles and other baby-related products at the Glemsford site. This involves end-to end delivery of the products from raw material processing, component assembly, quality testing and packaging operations. Core technologies include injection moulding, injection stretch blow moulding and pad printing.

You will be part of an Engineering team of 14 Engineers and report to the Process Engineering Manager – Central Engineering.

We are looking for

To be successful in this Industrial Placement we are looking for you:

  • Currently studying towards your Bachelor degree (Undergraduate) in:
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Manufacturing Engineering
  • Chemical Engineering

  • Are fluent in oral and written English

  • Have experience with fundamentals of engineering and elements of manufacturing systems such as Total Preventative Maintenance.
  • Have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including PowerPoint and Excel required
  • Have knowledge of machining and plastics processing preferred.
  • Have knowledge of Statistical methods.
