JOB DESCRIPTION

A vacancy has arisen for a Shipping Planner in the Shipping department at Denham to cover a maternity leave. This role holder will be responsible for assisting arranging shipping of company products and arranging transport to new and existing customers and suppliers, including international and national destinations ensuring all relevant paperwork and permissions are in place and goods are delivered to required timescales.

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:

  • Obtaining checking and preparing documentation to meet customs and insurance requirements packing specifications and compliance with UK and International regulations and fiscal regimes.
  • Check for the appropriate licences to transport and hold pyrotechnics.
  • Planning the most appropriate route for shipments taking into account fragile or hazardous nature of the goods, cost, transit time, security and customer/supplier requirements.

  • Liaising with internal logistics team, couriers and freight forwarders to move goods by the appropriate method in accordance with customer/supplier requirements.

  • Arranging charters and liaising with MOD and DOD and other government bodies to coordinate high value, sensitive, large size equipment to support programmes.

  • Utilising internet and vehicle tracking systems to report progress of goods and deliveries.

  • Liaison with external and internal parties to ensure that they are kept informed on progress and delays or issues concerning deliveries.

  • Investigating lost or damaged good reports and putting in place recovery plans including any required insurance claims, re shipped orders etc.

  • Making sure that accurate records are kept of transaction, checking invoices and delivery paper work, compiling reports as required.

  • Maintaining an up to date knowledge of relevant legislation, political situations and other factors that could affect the movement of goods.

  • Ensure that materials, goods and components to be shipped comply with safety regulations and customer/supplier specification so that components are not damaged through mishandling or incorrect packing and accidents do not occur through negligence or mishandling.

EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS:-

  • GSCE including English and Maths (A-C)

PERSON SPECIFICATION:

  • Good communication and customer handling skills.
  • Able to manage multiple priorities and tight timescales.
  • Methodical with good attention to detail.

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE

  • The ideal applicant will have:- Experience in working in a shipping role exporting complex products to a National and International customer/supplier base.

  • Good working knowledge of the requirements of import and export regulations.

  • Experience of dealing with government bodies and requirements.

Any applicants will need to have a British Passport or residency to be considered as they would need to be security cleared.
