Heerema Marine Contractors is a world leading marine construction company for the oil and gas industry and is specialized in design, transportation, installation and removal of all types of fixed and floating offshore structures in shallow and deepwater. HMC owns and operates the world’s largest semi-submersible crane vessel Thialf” (tandem lift record 14,200 mT), and the deepwater crane and J-lay pipe laying vessel Balder (record depth 2.500 m), the crane vessel Hermod, our new deepwater construction vessel (DCV) Aegir, anchor handling tugs/supply vessels, cargo/launch barges, pile driving hammers and other equipment required for offshore activities. As our market shifts to more remote and harsh environments and deeper water areas, conventional solutions no longer cut it. We are constantly looking for engineering students enrolled in a Master program that are capable of providing solutions to our current and future challenges. As intern with HMC you will focus on the structural scope in the preparation of our projects, executed with our vessels.

You will:

  • Design lifting arrangements, lift points etc.;
  • Design grillage and sea fastening for a variety of structures;
  • Perform detailed engineering and hand calculations;
  • Perform detailed engineering using software e.g. SACS;
  • Be a member of an interdisciplinary project team and will be involved in the preparation of the entire project.

Requirements

You are / You have:

  • Enrolled in a Civil Engineering of Mechanical Engineering Master program;
  • Motivated and a hands-on-mentality,;
  • Affinity with the offshore industry;
  • Good communication skills;
  • Good command of the English language, both spoken and written.
  • Available for at least 16 weeks
