A PROTEC converts thermal energy from the temperature difference between hot hydrocarbons and the colder sea water.
The goal of this graduation assignment is to assess the technical and economic feasibility of PROTEC, keeping flow assurance of the hydrocarbons in mind. Even though the temperature difference between hot oil and cold seawater (DT ~70°C) is much higher than in OTEC (DT ~21°C), it is still to be investigated how much energy can be tapped from the warm oil flow.
