Job description

Eneco Energy Trade (EET, 120 fte) is the interface between the Eneco group and the wholesale markets for tradable commodities, such as gas and power. EET is the business unit that takes over risks in return for premiums and manages the flows that come from assets and supply channels. We use origination to balance all flows within our entire portfolio through strategic management. Asset Backed Trading (ABT, 12 fte) is the single trading team within EET directly at the commodities market. ABT’s mission is to facilitate complex, flexible and thus profitable commercial activities. The two main targets of ABT are strategic hedging of positions and optimization of the customer and asset books. These activities form the life line of Eneco. ABT has established itself as a market knowledge and trading skills center with full-on market focus, supporting both talent recruitment and development within EET. ABT is constantly looking at all energy markets and especially at short term power markets which are heavily influenced by weather. In this respect we have the following question: Which weather forecasting models (ECMWF/GFS/HIRLAM/DWD) have the best predictive value for power fundamentals on the short term? Can we indicate situations in which specific and consistent differences between those models occur and can we apply parameterizations on the individual models in these situations in our trading strategies?
