Civil engineering is all about people. It’s about making public services and facilities better. Over the course of two to four years, your placements will take in our full breadth of work and show you how we help make everyday life better connected, safer, and simpler.

WHERE YOU CAN JOIN US

You can find out more about the areas of our business offering places on the Civil Engineering programme for autumn 2017 on our website. But no matter which team you join, you could be based anywhere in the UK. That’s why we ask all our graduates to be flexible and willing to move during their programme.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

The range will be massive. You might be helping to modernise the UK’s rail networks or designing cutting-edge structures for the nuclear industry. We do a lot for the MOD, which offers a whole world of different opportunities all by itself. You might even work with the Royal Navy to adapt the UK’s dockyard services to meet the demands of a modern naval fleet. Whatever you work on, you can be sure you’ll be making a real difference to everyday life in the UK.

WHAT YOU’LL GET OUT OF IT

We’re passionate about learning. And we encourage our people to pursue accreditation with professional bodies – especially our engineers. We’ll support you on the road to Incorporated or Chartered Engineer status – and give you a competitive starting salary of £27,000 - £30,000. So after the programme you’ll be ready to take on your first permanent role as an engineer.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

A 2:2 MEng (Hons) degree is vital. And because the programme is accredited by the IMechE, IET, RINA, IChemE and ICE, your degree will need to be accredited by one of those institutions too. You’ll also need to satisfy the MOD’s security requirements (and may need to complete a medical assessment).

Applications for this programme are currently open. To avoid disappointment we recommend that you apply sooner rather than later as we work on a rolling basis and where we experience large volumes of applications, we will close the role early.
