Overview of Role

We are looking for a Graduate Consultant to undertake RAM (Reliability, Availability and Maintainability) and Safety analyses and management activities.

The applicant will work within the rail sector, although opportunities to support other sectors may arise from time-to-time. The work will involve supporting of assurance and management activities through the application of RAMS techniques.  Typical activities include:

  • Supporting Hazard Identification workshops (HAZID/HAZOP)
  • Undertaking Failure Modes Effects and Criticality Analysis (FMECA)
  • Fault Tree Analysis / Event Tree Analysis
  • Reliability assessments (typically using Reliability Block Diagrams)
  • Preparing/contributing to assurance documentation including plans and reports
  • Reviewing RAM and Safety documentation

The role may also require the candidate to be out-based in client offices to support project work, depending upon client requirements.

Required Experience / Attributes

  • The applicant shall have recent experience of the application of RAMS skills (as described above) in the rail sector.
  • The candidate would be expected to have a suitable engineering, scientific or other numerate degree from a recognised university.
  • Qualifications should be recognised by a professional engineering body and the candidate should aspire to full membership of this.
  • The candidate should be capable of working independently on set tasks and also contribute in a team environment.
  • A clear thinking person demonstrating attention to detail who is well organised and can operate independently under a broad direction.
  • A team player who can develop and maintain good relationships and gain the confidence of other professionals both within the Company and outside
  • A broad thinker who can take a global view and has an inherent ability to ‘get the job done’
  • Able to manage own tasks through to conclusion
