Company description

AquaBattery is a starting company composed of 6 young researchers and engineers, collaborating on the development of a novel battery for the storage of renewable energy. We make use of the osmotic principle, in which energy can be obtained from the concentration difference between fresh and salty water, also referred to as Blue Energy. In times of a surplus of electricity production (e.g. with high quantities of solar and wind power), salt can be separated with the help of membranes. Later in time, this fresh and salty water can be converted back into electricity with the help of membranes which are selective for positive or negative salt ions. This concept has recently yielded multiple awards (i.a. Herman Wijffels Innovation Price 2016). Currently we are expanding our team with three new employees, and are testing this innovation for energy storage in households and companies. For more information, visit www.aquabattery.nl.

Working conditions

A full-time position is available, part-time position is negotiable. We offer a competitive salary for a starting engineer. The selected candidate is offered a one-year contract, overlooking permanent employment. Working location is Leiden.
