Description

Our Global Quality Team is vital to Dyson’s future technology; extracting and analysing data from a diverse range of sources to drive improvements. As a Graduate Data Scientist you’ll be helping to uncover opportunities to enhance our machines and set the benchmark of our future technology.

Market Overview

Home to our global Research, Design and Development centre and all of our Commercial functions, the Dyson HQ campus can be found in secluded countryside that helps keep our secrets secret. Having doubled in size in 2016, the campus is now home to new research and development facilities, a new restaurant (home to an English Electric Lightning jet) and a sports facility catering to all Dyson people. Nearby are the fashionable cities of Bristol and Bath (where a young James Dyson invented cyclone technology).

The building is the heartbeat of Dyson. Over 2,500 people, including James himself, spend their days there strategizing, inventing technology and telling the Dyson story to the world.

Function Overview

Dyson products are built to last, as well as perform. To do this we gather data from a diverse set of data sources, from CRM systems to Consumer Reviews, from connected messages in the cloud to manufacturing data coming from our production lines. This information is then transformed into engaging, clear and interactive reports and analysis to identify opportunities to enhance our products

Accountabilities

You’ll be utilising data from a wide range of sources such as CRM systems and product usage data, working on algorithms to interrogate this data and uncover insights that can be actioned.

As well as uncovering these insights, you’ll also develop engaging visualizations and tools that help to communicate those insights.

From time to time you’ll also gather data requests from the business and transform open or ambiguous requirements into specific and valuable questions. From there you’ll identify opportunities hidden in the data.

Skills

You’ll have some experience in Machine Learning projects, data visualisation and Natural Language Processing skills demonstrated through your modules or extra—curricular activities. Some experience in advanced data innovation projects is also beneficial.

Benefits Overview

Do all this and in return you’ll get a competitive salary and pension, profit-related bonus, generous leave and life insurance. But financial benefits are only the start of a Dyson career. With a vibrant culture, flexible working hours, the latest devices and a relaxed dress code reflecting our engineering spirit, it’s an exciting team environment geared to creativity, innovation and ambition.

23 years ago, Dyson began with a single concept – a vacuum that wouldn’t lose suction. Years later and Dyson are still breaking convention, pushing into new areas of technology. And it’s this fresh thinking that we still crave today. Beyond the bagless vacuum cleaner, Dyson engineers have developed bladeless fans, high speed hand dryers, robot vacuums and have recently re-thought the hair dryer. Today Dyson invests £5m a week developing new technology and ideas.
