Internship From Plastic Waste to Sustainable Value

More and more plastics are polluting our ocean and seas - the plastic soup is getting bigger every day. Are you enthusiastic about revolutionizing the way large companies think about and use plastic? Are you ready to help companies in Amsterdam, Eindhoven and in the rest of the Netherland close their ‘plastic tap’? Then this is the internship for you!

Job Description

This working internship is a unique opportunity to be part of Accenture as well as a social enterprise called ‘Searious Business’, which is committed to solving one of the most pressing issues of our time: prevent plastics from entering our environment.

Searious Business works with businesses, governments, and various other organizations, and is always guided by these core principles:

  • Re-Think: We help establish inclusive, innovative, solutions-based thought processes.
  • Re-Use: Moving away from “single use” for industry and consumers.
  • Recycle: Applying “re-think” to recycling programs - Cents and sense.
  • Re-Design: Systems, strategies, and product cycles - Making improvements, together!
  • Re-Train: Producers and the public - Changing how people treat and value plastics.

Plastic Scan

We realize that companies often don’t know where to start. To help keep things moving in the right direction, Searious Business developed a “Plastic Scan”. This online tool assesses a company’s plastic use and recommends potential improvements for companies wishing to “close the plastic tap.”

You will play an important role in further developing the Plastic Scan. This includes adding valuable content to the personalized outcomes of the Plastic Scan, resetting the calculation scheme, research and development with relevant stakeholders, and reaching out to potentially interested companies as ‘prescribers’ of the Plastic Scan.

Organizations like Unilever, Philips and WBCSD have already shown interest to start working with an international version of the Plastic Scan (English, Spanish, French & German version). The trainee will assist in coordinating this effort together with our business partners Centric and Bee-ideas.
