The applications of electrical and electronic engineering are staggering. Transport networks. Renewable energy. Even ventilation. You name it, there’s an electrical system in it. At Babcock, we take care of those systems for our clients’ most important products and services. And over your two to four-year programme, you’ll get to experience a vast range of them.

WHERE YOU CAN JOIN US

You can find out more about the areas of our business offering places on the Electrical and Electronic Engineering programme for autumn 2017 on our website. But no matter which team you join, you could be based anywhere in the UK. That’s why we ask all our graduates to be flexible and willing to move during their programme.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

Working in a discipline of such fundamental importance means that you could work on anything. You could be on the team designing submarines or refitting warships. Maybe you’ll work on one of our big projects in oil and gas, or help to design and build the UK’s next generation of nuclear power plants. It’s all at your feet.

Day-to-day, you could find yourself working on electrical power distribution (high and low voltage) or on electrical control and instrumentation involving both analogue and digital systems. Our graduates get involved in everything from concept design and AutoCAD layouts to testing, installation, commissioning and handover to clients. You’ll be working within multi-disciplinary teams, investigating solutions to engineering problems. And you could find yourself managing projects and leading your own team.

WHAT YOU’LL GET OUT OF IT

This is a great programme to give you a full overview of what we’re about. You’ll see how important the projects we work on are and how important electrical and electronic engineers like you are to our projects. You’ll enjoy a competitive starting salary of £27,000 - £30,000 and we’ll be completely behind you as you work towards Incorporated or Chartered Engineer status.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

A 2:2 BEng (Hons) degree is vital in a related subject area (e.g Electrical and Electronic Engineering) that is accredited by IET. You’ll also need to satisfy the MOD’s security requirements (and may need to complete a medical assessment).

Applications for this programme are currently open. To avoid disappointment we recommend that you apply sooner rather than later as we work on a rolling basis and where we experience large volumes of applications, we will close the role early.
